From text to task • choosing literary texts appropriate for use in the classroom • producing lesson plans and teaching materials based on literary texts • gaining insights into the Austrian standardised school-leaving exam • assessing writing competence aiming at a B1/B2 level
This course aims to look into how a selection of literary texts on gender issues can be applied to a classroom setting and how writing competence can be tested in a writing exam based on literary texts and tasks. By the end of the course students will have chosen literary texts to work with, produced teaching materials, and put together writing tasks according to the competence-oriented standardized Austrian Matura. Selected works will be published on the BIFIE (Bundesinstitut für Innovation, Forschung und Entwicklung des Österreichischen Schulwesens) website.
This will be a block seminar (Friday afternoon, Saturday morning). The dates will be announced in the first session. You will be required to have a good working knowledge of the CEFR, as you will be focussing on B1/B2 level while you work individually and in small groups on a number of texts. The completion of the introductory didactics module (especially the workshop) is strongly recommended.
Dossier of teaching and testing material, feedback to the instructor.
To be announced in the first session
Numbers will be limited due to the practical nature of the course.
