The main purpose of architecture photography is to show the idea of the architect and provide an orientation to the viewer in order to understand the construction and the meaning of the building.

Architecture Photography in our everyday perception is a more or less standardized, technical discipline. Very often there is not much room for artistic interpretations of the photographer. In books, magazines, guides, and the internet we can find relatively similar views of buildings. That means, the photo remains our only reference, and our idea of this construction is more influenced by the photo, as by the original. The photographer has the responsible task of building a correct re-adding. On the other hand, reproducing reality is not enough. The photographer has his own views and inspiration, and wants to represent a thoroughly subjective point of view. Architecture remains thrilling as image succeeds.

The seminar deals with "architectural photography in Innsbruck". Each participating student / each seminar participant should document about 10 buildings in Innsbruck photographically. Co-organizer of the seminar, are the Munich photographer Quirin Leppert and the architect Veronika WEISS. The fotos are analyzed in detailed meetings and discussed in the group. The best fotos will be published in the "Architectural Guide Innsbruck". An exhibition of Photo print magnifications will be shown in the winter semester 2014/15 in the Archive of architecture.
