Special Competences: Theory and Application of the Radon transform

In this module students obtain in-depth knowledge about theory and applications of Radon transforms, learn about current problems, and are able to develop innovative solutions for their solution. 

The Radon transform maps a function defined in the Euclidian plane to its integrals over straight lines and forms the mathematical basis of x-ray CT. In this lecture we will study the following topics, which are relevant for the development of efficient reconstruction algorithms for computed tomography:

*) Fourier transform

*) Radon transform

*) Sampling theory

In addition, we will still study generalized Radon transforms and introduce some modern tomographic methods.

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"

Will be discussed in the lessons.
