In this module students obtain in-depth knowledge about theory and applications of time-frequency and wavelet analysis, as well as applications to signal processing, learn about current problems, and are able to develop innovative solutions.

Introduction to mathematical signal processing, in particular time-frequency analysis and wavelet methods.

Time-frequency Analysis part:

- Basic Fourier Analysis

- Uncertainty Principles

- Short Time Fourier Transform

- Quadratic Time Frequency Representations

- Gabor Frames

Wavelet part:

- Continuous Wavelet Transform

- Wavelet Frames

- Orthogonal and bi-orthogonal Wavelet Bases

- Function Approximation

- Optimal Statistical Estimation 

Blackboard lecture und exercise sessions with calculations on the blackboard.

Final written exam (to be admitted to the final exam you have to successfully scribe at least one lecture), details will be discussed during the first lecture.
