Advanced knowledge concerning social science-related psychological and basic empowerment for a critical reflexion of one's practical participation in the economy.

Societal conditions in work and interaction which suggest that human beings forget - or realize only to a very limited extend - the self-creation of their own life conditions are denoted as "Alienation" or as "Estrangement" by social philosophers, sociologists, or psychologists. Included in this construct are the alienation from the product, from the human potential, from the own activity as well as human beings' alienation from other human beings (e.g. depersonalisation). Effects of such conditions upon the human alienation experience, acting, or well-being are investigated by work and social psychologists and other professions. Concepts of alienation in the tradition of scientific humanism (Critical Theory, e.g. Fromm, Marcuse, Israel, Moldaschl, Negt, Rosa, Volpert) are considered in the seminar. It will be investigated in how far fundaments of psychology stemming from theories of society and social philosophy (for example socio-economic features of a concrete society) can contribute to a better understanding of applied psychological phenomena (e.g. systemic irresponsibility and selfishm, errosion of prosociality, syndrom of acceleration) as well as contribute to a not economistically reduced research in psychology. Based on the acquisition and discussion of relevant literature it will be worked out what societal causes and effects the personality development or personality impairement has in different areas of sozialisation.
