Profound knowledge of theories, methods, and empirical evidence in the field of psychological research on justice in organizations; ability to carry out and evaluate an empirical study on this issue.

Current developments in post-industrial societies have brought issues of social justice back on the agenda of public discussion (e.g., refugee crisis, wealth distribution). Likewise, circumstances shaping the work life in contemporary organizations provide more than enough reasons to take a closer look at issues of justice and associated social norms (e.g., pay equity, equal opportunities, fairness perceptions). Perceived justice at work has been shown to predict a broad range of desired outcomes, such as work motivation and performance. Perceived injustice, on the other hand, can lead to conflicts in organizations and increased risks of health impairment among employees. In this course, conceptual foundations (e.g., equity theory, social exchange theory) and forms of justice in organizations (e.g., distributive and procedural) will be introduced and explained. The measurement of justice in organizations and evidence regarding determinants and consequences of (in-) justice at work will be reviewed and discussed with reference to empirical studies. Specific research questions on this issue will be examined in empirical case studies by teams of students.

Oral presentations by the lecturer and participants, discussion of previously conducted studies / published research , empirical case study, data analysis, presentation of results, documentation.

Examinations using continuous assessment based on regular written and/or oral contributions from the participants
