Students know important, specific and molecular characteristics of bacteria as basis for identifying, classifying, fighting and using them in science and research.

Parasexual events of prokaryotes, regulation and function of selected prokaryotic promoters/operons, molecular mechanisms and targets of important antibiotics, resistance-testing of bacterial pathogens, important physiological, immunological and molecular-biological methods used for identification and differentiation of selected pathogens or microbes of the environment. Possible phylogenetic examinations on the molecular level.

Blocked lecture with visual support and interactive teaching.

Written multiple-choice test at the end of the blocked lecture. If required, further exams possible.

Relevant chapters/textbooks will be announced during the lecture. Handouts related to important topics are available during and after the lecture under the web link below.
