This is an introductory course to the topic of information security. Students graduating form this course will acquire basic knowledge of the protection goals in information security. They will know and understand theoretical options and limitations to enforce these protection goals in and with the help of distributed technical systems.

Theoretical foundations of information security and cryptography; key management; design principles; adversary models; proof techniques and measurement approaches for security properties; protocols and operation modes; selected algorithms and examples

Interactive lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.
